Type 2The method of connecting symbol Type 2 vacuum cleaning attachments to the wand (handle) is the same as for type Type 1. The only difference between symbol Type 1 and symbol Type 2 attachments and wands is that the outside diameter necks on the tools and the inside diameter on the wand coupling is 1-1/2". Both the wands and attachments referred to are available in metal or plastic and are considered 1-1/2" in size.Important note: Symbol Type 2 wands (handles) will not accept symbol Type 1 attachments. Symbol Type 2 tools however will fit inside a symbol Type 1 wand coupling but there will be a gap between the attachment and wand coupling resulting in a loss of vacuum performance. |

Type 3The method of connecting symbol Type 3 floor tools to the wand (handle) is to pull the knob on the wand coupling outward, which has spring tension, insert the vacuum attachment and release the knob. The inner shaft of the knob will then seek a groove in the attachment neck which will hold the attachment in place and allow it to swivel. Both wands and tools are available in either metal or plastic and are considered to be 1-1/2" size. |

Type 4The method of attaching symbol Type 4 floor tools or other attachments to the wand (handle) is to place the neck of the tool over the end of the wand and actually thread the tool, which has female threads, onto the wand (handle) which has male threads. We offer metal wands only in this configuration which are considered to be 1-1/2" size. Care should be taken to prevent cross threading the tool to the wand. |

Type 5The method of connecting symbol Type 5 floor tools and wands (handles) is to place the neck of the tool over the end of the wand (handle) which has the male threaded collar attached. The threaded female collar on the floor tool is then threaded clockwise over the male threaded collar on the wand. The floor tool is held in place and allowed to swivel. The wands and attachments are available in metal only and are considered 1-1/2" size. |

Type 6The method of connecting symbol Type 6 floor tools to the wand (handle) is to pull out the knob on the floor tool, which has spring tension, insert the wand into the tool and release the spring tensioned knob. The inner shaft of the knob will then seek the groove in the collar at the end of the wand, holding it in place and allowing it to swivel. We offer metal wands only for this configuration which are 1-1/2" in size. |

Type 7There are two size symbol Type 7 wands and tools (1-1/2" and 2") and both connect in the same manner. Depending on the particular floor tool, there are either one or two threaded thumb screws which are located at the sides of the tool. The first step in the connection process is to turn the thumbscrews counter clockwise to allow insertion of the wand into the tool. The thumbscrews are then turned clockwise until the inner shaft of the thumbscrews engage the groove in the collar of the wand, holding the tool in place and allowing it to swivel. Parts in this configuration are available in metal only. Note: check part descriptions closely to determine if the parts are 1-1/2" or 2" in size. |

Type 8Symbol Type 8 reflects use of 1-1/4" friction fit wands (handles) and attachments. The attachments are joined to the wands by means of forcing the two together which are then held by friction. The attachments normally have an outward flare and the wands (handles) have a matching inward taper. The wands in this configuration are available in either metal or plastic. The attachments are available in plastic only. |

Type 9Symbol Type 9 reflects use of 1-1/2" friction fit wands (handles) and attachments. They are joined by forcing the wand which has an inward taper into the outward flare on the neck of the attachment. Wands in this configuration are available in either metal or plastic. The attachments are available in plastic only. |

Type 10Symbol Type 10 reflects the use of 2" friction fit wands (handles) and attachments. The inward taper of the wand is forced into the outward flare of the attachment and are held in place by friction. Parts in this configuration are available in metal only. |

Type 11Symbol Type 11 reflects the use of 2-1/4" friction fit wands (handles) and attachments. The inward taper of the wand (handle) is forced into the outward flare on the attachment and the parts are held together by friction. Parts in this configuration are available in plastic only. |
